NATALIE LUCAS | FASHION DESIGNER
Natalie is an ambitious design professional emerging in the modern fashion industry. With a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University, an institution whose fashion design program is recognized as one of the most reputable in the world, as well as her particular achievements and awards, she has managed to differentiate herself from her peers.
As an avid traveler, Natalie eagerly took advantage of the renowned semester abroad program Kent State offers at their Florence, Italy location. With additional trips including well-known trade show, Premiere Vision in France, and excursions in Milan, and London, she was not only able to broaden her comprehension of romance languages but also her understanding of fashion manufacturing. Due to this new appreciation for global audiences, Natalie declared her marketing minor after returning home to Kent.
When offered an internship during summer 2010 at Perry Ellis International in New York City, she was welcomed as a member of their design team. She spent her time attending fittings and assisting in the design process by developing sketches on Adobe Illustrator, performing market research, preparing catalogs, and creating fabrics on U4ia. Consequently, Natalie discovered passions for both computer aided design and the menswear industry.
During her final year in school, she concentrated on developing her computer design skills using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to build her portfolio. Additionally, she constructed "Assimilnation", a fashion forward menswear line that graced the runway of Kent State’s annual senior fashion show in April 2011. During the show, Project Runway's Stephen “Suede” Baum awarded Natalie the “Endowed Critics Award” for showing promise in the field of menswear design.
Since graduation in May 2011, Natalie has worked on perfecting her abilities with the creation of an interactive design website as well as her current occupation as a seamstress for Vera Wang Bridal House. She currently resides in Stow, Ohio but hopes to relocate soon to a more fashion oriented city where she can execute her expertise.
